1.      Oiling the furnace blower

Lubricating your furnace blower will increase the lifespan. Besides, it helps the HVAC system run better. Here’s how you oil the furnace blower –

Step 1 – Shut down the power to work on the following steps.

Step 2 – Detach the furnace’s access panel by unscrewing with a screwdriver.

Step 3 – Locate the furnace’s blower motor assembly. Then detach the blower motor from the main assembly using a wrench.

Step 4 – Using the wrench, remove the bolts and take out the blower motor from its housing.

Step 5 – Locating the oil ports on the blower motor and the shaft. Then squeeze a few drops of oil on them.

Step 6 – Activate the furnace and see if there is any noise coming from it or it is malfunctioning again.

 

2.      Check safety switch on the furnace door

Sometimes the problem with a furnace can be caused by the safety switch. A quick check on the safety switch can solve the problem and here’s how it should be done.

Step 1 – Turn of the power of your furnace

Step 2 – Prepare its blower motor

Step 3 – Properly wire the safety switch

Step 4 – After installation, test the furnace and see if it needs further assistance from HVAC experts.

 

3.      Check Pilot Control of Electric Ignition

Sometimes the electric ignition or the pilot control of your furnace is the culprit behind it misbehaving. Here’s how to fix it –

Step 1 – First, shut off the furnace by switch off the power supply. The restart it again.

Step 2 – The turn off gas supply or power supply to the furnace. Inspect the heating components to check for damage. Try to detect any visible damage. See if anything need repairing. The ignitor must be in good health to continue using it. Otherwise, replace it and proceed to further inspection. But make sure you don’t touch the components. Those components might be hot and touching them can cause your skin to burn.

Step 3 – See the manufacturer’s troubleshooting manual. Follow the step by step procedure to check everything is working fine, especially the ignitor.

Step 4 – Power it back on and allow power or gas supply. Check if it is working properly or not.
