As a result, you’ll have to wait for them to reopen if your AC suddenly decides to breakdown. But don’t panic. Before calling an emergency repair to your nearby HVAC service center, you can try some easy air conditioner fixes. In this article, I’ll talk about those easy and quick fixes for the 4th of July when your air conditioner isn’t working.

4 AC Quick Fixes for 4th of July

1. Shut the Access Doors Tightly

There’re many HVAC equipments that doesn’t run when your access doors are not tightly shut or locked. This is a security feature which is added to almost all HVAC equipment starting from furnaces to air conditioner nowadays. This safety feature prevents your HVAC equipment from damages and your house from accidents.

So, check all your access doors, and if any of the access doors is opened, shut them. If the access door is the root problem, your air conditioner will start running when your shut or lock all your access doors. This is a common problem on the 4th of July because, at this time, your friends and family will come and go out of your place again and again and as a result, there’ll be a gathering in your house. Because of that, it gets hard for the homeowners to completely shut down all the access doors at a time. So, if you have so many guests invited in your place, try to turn on your air conditioner when everyone is inside or tell your guests to go inside so that you can turn on your air conditioner.

If your air conditioner doesn’t have the safety feature, still you shouldn’t turn your air conditioner on when the access doors are open. It’ll make your air conditioner prone to heavy repairs, and in the worst-case scenario, you may face unwanted accidents. So, before turning your air conditioner on, shut all the access doors for safety purposes.

2. Check the Power Source

During summer, there’s a huge load on the air conditioner, and because of that, sometimes the circuit breaker can be fused or tripped down. As a result, your air conditioner won’t get the power from the electric panel, and your air conditioner won’t run. So, when your air conditioner isn’t working, check the electrical panel of your house. If you see that the circuit breaker is tripped down, turn it up; your air conditioner will start running after that.

Also, check the thermostat of your air conditioner. Your thermostat won’t work when the batteries of your air conditioner thermostat are down. So, check the batteries of your thermostat, and if you find that the batteries are down, replace the batteries with a new one. It’s recommended that you should always keep a few spare batteries in your house so that you can use those batteries in emergency situations.

Now, I’ll tell you about a few preventive measures that you can take before the 4th of July.

3. Change the Air Filter If It is Due

If the air filter of your air conditioner is dirty, it’ll create a blockage in the air passing pathway. Also, because of a dirty air filter, your air conditioner can stop working at any time of the day. So, if you haven’t changed the air filter in months, change the air filter before the 4th of July.

4. Check the Refrigerant Level

The air conditioner uses refrigerant to produce cold air, and when the refrigerant level is low, your air conditioner won’t be able to produce the cold air that you need. So, check the refrigerant level, and if it’s low, refill it before the 4th of July.
