    You say these are good for places with cold winters and hot summers AND THEN you say they are NOT perfect for places with extraordinary temperatures.

    We actually meant extreme or unusual temperature by ‘extraordinary temperature’. Yes, the unit is good for the typical cold winters and warm summers in the US. But reverse-cycle heating might not be a good choice in extreme conditions like those we see in Alaska or the poles. This is mainly because a portion of this system would be outside, and in extreme weather conditions, the outdoor unit might not work as efficiently as you might expect. I hope this clears up the confusion.
