Green Leaf Air

In winter, moisture or water level of the indoor air drops down. To adjust the moisture in the indoor air, we use a humidifier. A humidifier is necessary for places where the weather is always cold and dry. Like other HVAC equipment, the humidifier has also updated over time. Nowadays, humidifiers are more reliable, make less noise, and offer efficient performance. There are 4 major types of  air humidifiers that you can choose from – Cool Mist Humidifiers, Warm Mist Humidifiers, Ultrasonic Humidifiers & Air Washers.

4 Types of Air Humidifier

1.    Warm Mist Humidifier

You can use a warm mist humidifier to fight against the flu and cold. Also, it makes less noise compared to the cold mist humidifiers, which we will talk about in a bit. But the warm mist humidifier requires frequent cleaning, and sometimes it’s challenging to clean this humidifier on a regular basis. Besides, it doesn’t cover a huge area. So, if you need a humidifier that won’t have to cover a big room, you can buy a warm mist humidifier.

Also, it produces hot steam, and that’s why you should keep your children away from this warm mist humidifier.

The warm mist humidifier first heats the water before disposing of it in the air. As a result, if there are any bacteria or harmful elements in the water, it gets destroyed. That’s how you can fight against the flu and cold.

2.    Ultrasonic Humidifiers

Ultrasonic humidifiers make less noise and don’t require regular maintenance. Also, with other humidifiers, you’ll notice white fog in the air. But when using the ultrasonic humidifier, you won’t notice anything like this. You can use filtered or distilled water for better output.

There’s a metal diaphragm in this ultrasonic humidifier which vibrates at the ultrasonic speed. As a result, the water in the humidifier transfers into small particles, and then the humidifier disposes the water in the air. Because of this, the water particles evaporate before touching the ground. There’s a fan that pushes these small particles upside, and that’s how water particles spread all over the room.

Also, some ultrasonic humidifier offers both warm and cool mist.

3.    Cool Mist Humidifiers

If you live in a warm area, you can buy a cool-mist humidifier. This humidifier is very easy to clean, but it makes a lot of noise compared to the warm mist humidifier. Also, it’s easy to breathe when you use a cool-mist humidifier. But it requires regular maintenance, and you may have to change the filter quite often. Similar to warm mist humidifiers, it doesn’t cover a large area, only usable for small rooms or space.

The cool mist humidifier uses a filter to remove the minerals and impurities in the water and then disposes of the water in the air like mist. If you’re confused between the warm mist humidifier and the cool mist humidifier, let me simply this for you. You can choose the warm mist humidifier if you live in a cold area, and you don’t want any noise. Otherwise, it’s better to choose the cool-mist humidifier to increase the humidity in your room.

4.    Air Washers

Air washer has two functions. First, it adds humidity to the air and then cleans the air. Air washers can easily remove the mineral dust from the air. But it requires frequent cleaning and regular maintenance. An air washer can easily remove allergens from the air, but it’s unable to remove lung penetrating sub-micron particles.

An air washer has a rotating disc inside it. It helps to remove allergens, small particles from the air. Also, this rotating disc allows the air washer to produce mist and add humidity in the air. This is the unique feature of this humidifier.
